Grand Opening of RIO in Kaluga

This March 1, a new, 20,000 sq.m. GBA RIO mall was inaugurated in Kaluga. Nikolay Polezhaev, Mayor of Kaluga, took part in the opening ceremony. Tashir has invested a total of 40M USD in the project.

On the first day, over 50,000 people visited RIO. Over 30 tenants, leading Russian and international retail operators have been working in the mall since its commissioning. Tashir Group, Russia’s leading retail real estate developer, designed, contracted and brokered—and will also manage—the mall.

RIO is located in the city centre at 19 Kirova Street. Over 20 public transport routes lead to it, and a bus station nearby makes its location still more convenient for guests.
Anchor tenants include Victoria food supermarket, M.Video hypermarket of home electronic appliances, Sportmaster sports store, and Cinema Star multiplex. The shopping gallery features shops by famous brands, e.g. L’Etoile, Adidas, Reebok, Incity, O'stin and many more. Kaluga’s first-ever stores by Rendez-vous, Jennyfer, Mango, and Kira Plastinina appeared in the new RIO.

RIO’s entertainment zone, beside the four-hall Cinema Star, offers kids’ entertainment centre PlayLab to contain a 5D cinema, a food court, and a popular Comedy Cafe.

RIO shopping and entertainment centre in Kaluga is a result of successful redevelopment of the Passage mall, built by Tashir in 1998 and having been a local hit for over a decade. RIO in Kaluga added to Tashir’s portfolio to bring the number of its operating malls to 20 and RIOs, to 12.

The new RIO is but one of the vast number of real estate objects constructed by Tashir in Kaluga region. This is one of the most important regions of the Group, in terms of asset volume and presence scale.
