FIDE Candidates Tournament will be staged in Moscow with Tashir Group’s support

Tashir Group has become an official partner of the World Chess Federation (FIDE)’s Candidates Tournament to be staged in Moscow on March 10–30, 2016. The prize is about USD 450 thousand and a chance to play the World Champion.

Next spring the capital will welcome the world’s eight strongest chess players from six countries. The cohort looking to challenge the reigning champion, Norway’s Magnus Carlsen, will include Hikaru Nakamura (Japanese-born but representing USA), Italy’s two-time champion Fabiano Caruana (also USA), our country’s seven-time champion Pyotr Svidler (Russia), winner of the FIDE 2015 World Cup Sergey Karyakin (Russia), ex-world champion Veselin Topalov (Bulgaria), ex-world champion Viswanathan Anand (India), the Dutch champion Anish Giri (Netherlands) and the three-time Olympic champion Levon Aronian (Armenia). The winner of the Candidates Tournament will get to play for the World Champion title in the United States in November of 2016.

FIDE’s commercial partner AGON with support of the Russian Chess Federation will organize the tournament.

Tashir has supported important chess competitions before. In November of 2014 they staged a Tigran Petrosian Memorial International Chess Tournament in Moscow with a prize of EUR 100 thousand.
