Leroy Merlin opens its first store in Arkhangelsk

Tashir Group has completed the construction of the first Leroy Merlin store in Arkhangelsk and commissioned the building on October 31. Arkhangelsk Vice Governor Aleksei Andronov and other city officials were present at the opening ceremony.

From now on, the residents of Arkhangelsk will also have an opportunity to purchase everything they need for repairs and home improvement for their apartment, summerhouse or garden “under one roof.” The new Leroy Merlin store is located in Lomonosov District, Maiskaya Gorka, a dynamically developing neighborhood between two main streets, Moskovsky and Leningradsky Prospects. Leroy Merlin Arkhangelsk has 17,000 sq. m. and consists of 15 sections, which offer approximately 29,000 SKUs in five main areas: home, interior, construction materials, repairs and garden.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Arkhangelsk Vice Governor Aleksei Andronov spoke at the opening ceremony, saying, “The opening of a new shopping center in Arkhangelsk Province is a big step forward and a breakthrough, not only in retail but also in construction. Today, our producers have received a reliable partner, which will enable them to sell their products through this major international chain not only in Arkhangelsk Province but throughout northwestern Russia. This major project has created 177 new jobs”.

Leroy Merlin and Tashir Group signed a 2 billion ruble contract for mall construction in 2015. Under the contract, Tashir has built two stores: the first one opened in Petrozavodsk in late August, and the second one is in Arkhangelsk.

In his speech at the opening ceremony, Tashir Vice President Artak Evoyan said, “Only two months ago, we opened a new Leroy Merlin hypermarket in Petrozavodsk, and today we open another center here, in Arkhangelsk. We see it as a great honor and as a sign of trust, and we’ll keep doing our best to be worthy of this trust”.

Mr. Evoyan also said he was happy for the people of Arkhangelsk that their city too will now have such a high-class hypermarket.
Leroy Merlin Arkhangelsk store manager Anna Yakovleva said, “Arkhangelsk is a wonderful, dynamically developing city. We have carefully studied the needs of the people living here and are ready now to offer our quality service, convenient shopping and a wide range of affordable goods and services”.
